Primula vulgaris or English primrose. That’s what these little flowers can also be known as. I love all the different varieties, especially the variegated ones, I used to pick and collect them from my parents‘ garden when I was little.

So it’s obvious that I’m going to make a pattern to create multicoloured little primroses. They’d look lovely as little brooches. Or even attached to a wreath for yourself or as a gift.
Here’s how to make them:
Written in UK crochet terms.
Abbreviations
htr = half treble
tr = treble
dc = double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
ch = chain
Materials and notions
Using 2.5mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
DK cotton yarn in 3 colours A, B, C.
(for colour A, I used pale or bright yellow)
Recommended yarn: (Ricorumi, Paintbox Cotton DK, Stylecraft Classique, Yarn and Colours Favourite)
Pattern
Make a magic circle.
Using colour A, make 5 htr into the magic circle. Slip stitch to first htr. Cut off colour A - leaving small tail for sewing in easily.
Join colour B, *dc tr dc into the back loop of each htr* repeat round. Slip st to first first stitch. Cut off colour B.
Join colour C into one of the dc stitches from the row below.
*Dc into this stitch.
Into the back loop of the next st which should be a tr from row below: htr, tr, ch2, sl st, ch 2, tr, htr,
dc into next st*
Repeat round between * *
slip stitch to first stitch it colour C.
Sew in ends and admire your handiwork!

Admittedly, it is a tight squeeze putting all those stitches into the top of the tr stitch in colour C, but it gives that lovely ruffled split petal effect which primroses are known for.
I like browsing Google for primrose colour inspiration! Hope you enjoy it too!
